umm.. Wow. He's for intelligent design as a science?! I used to respect him..

The half of the argument that the ID people want to ignore is that no one is saying you can't have that belief of a higher being. But, we don't call chemistry a spiritual or religious decision. Science has very basic rules (hi2u scientific method) that you have to follow to be accepted as a science. ID does not currently hold up under any of these. It's based on faith, which is not scientific. You can't force a spiritual belief into the scientific community and make them accept it as a 'science' if you don't play by the rules science has established.

There is no discrimination against scientists being religious or having those beliefs. There is no one saying that when science can't fully explain something (like what existed before the Big Bang) that it can't fall under your definition of God. Many scientists are very religious, and think the ID theory that exists right now is a completely retarded idea. They want to investigate and get as close to the truth as possible, because they think of it as better understanding and becoming closer to God.
