This has been discussed further back in the thread, btw this thread is getting huge. Here are some highlights:

I believe that this will be the next big (successful) MMORPG.
He said they want to try and work it into fitting alongside FFXI; not sure how that would work. |

But enter the idea of leveraging all the lore and content that is being developed for FFXI into the new franchise, now I know that Tanaka said back when they announced the new mmo develoment a couple of years back that it would not be a FFXI-2, but he also said very recently that it will have something to do with VanaD'iel. Couple that with the fact that I've always thought it would be ground breaking to be able to move within one game world enviroment into the next generation somewhat seemless. Think along the line of continuing your EQ1 character that you rolled way back in 2000 some how integrated into the new game, and back in forth.
Wishful thinking I know but, look at the next expansion coming out, there is definately some time travel being intoduced. Who knows? |
There is also a thread floating around about the white engine, I'll dig around for it later.
I hope that there will be some more info about the next project announced at the Fan Festival that kicks off this Thursday.
