Like everyone else has said, the combat takes a while to open up. I had a semi-static on my bard a while back with 2 friends on Hades(also Midgardsormr before they did the split to Hades). Me BRD/WHM, those two MNK/WAR and RNG/(WAR or NIN). Those 2 were geared to the hilt and post-50 we had a ton of fun just...theres not even a word for it. Absolutely destroying anything basically. Slug Shot -> Raging Fists followed up by a Barrage. Monk had O.Kote and some sick H2H, ranger used only Silver bullets. I had +1 or +2 instruments for important songs like madrigal, march, etc. Between the 2 WS, their skillchain damage, and the barrage it was like 75% of an IT++ life. Chain 4-6 were very common, we'd pull 8 to 14k an hour. This was all before the ranger nerf though, and long before the 2H weapon changes.
I should try seeing if its possible to get my bard back. All I have are the codes for Original FFXI and Zilart. No POL account number, no idea on the original credit card used. Of course I have name/address etc.
