1 to 2 hours a day, is a bit light, even if you have a dedicated static waiting on you the very second you log on, travel time is a bit longer, especially if you are just starting out, and as a rule, most exp parties will want to xp for longer than an hour. Also alot of the fun of FFXI are the missions (think main storyline progression) with a limited game time I'm betting it will be hard to progress through even some of the early ones.

As far as the server population goes, it's very strong and with a new expansion just around the corner, there are new players everywhere, as far as the Linkshell I belong to, this is from another post within this thread:

That being said, Draconia is the pearl that we all hang out on and use vent with so you are more than welcome to log in, do what you want and have alot of people to shoot the shit with and get a feel for the game.
