| Why do those 70s camp places like STV and kill level 30s? It's simple, really. The majority of players on NA PvP servers are 12-20 year old, public-school "educated" (i.e., "u"-speaking retards), immature, spoiled brat, little asshole dudes that get most of their ADD-infused satisfaction in life by being "cool" and/or an anonymous internet assholes to other people online. When you just got your ass kicked by your dad for back-talking to mom, "pwning nubs" in STV looks pretty good to these kids.
And yes, I did a 60 priest a couple of years ago on a WoW PvP server. I was in "teh uber" Horde PvP-only guild at the time, so most Alliance generally left me alone (or they had a large stormtrooper squad on their ass within 5 minutes).
Being one of those horrible "role players" and liking a little "immersion" in my "role playing" games, I really enjoyed the tense atmosphere on the PvP server, generally. The complete retardation of places like Gadgetzan (and BB, etc.) where you can get perma-ganked due to the massive Alliance over-population at that time pretty much ruined that "immersion" plan for me. This leaves out the fact, of course, that if it was even remotely "realistic/immersive", anybody of any faction that's killing people in "their" town would be black-listed and KOS to the goblins, etc. (hey, you're killing their customers).
I like PvP, a lot. Unfortunately, "world" PvP in the latest round of MMORPGs leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily, WoW has the reasonably fair-play refuge of BGs and arenas to play in, at least until WAR or AoC, etc. arrive.
And as to the OP, I'm a bit mystified as well. Normally, the cynical side of me would think Blizzard is only thinking of maximizing cash flow in any decision of this nature. But depriving themselves of the vast numbers of $25 CC charges that would result from allowing these PvE->PvP transfers almost looks like they consider the integrity of their game above money. My goodness, what is the world coming to and, most importantly, are Vivendi execs aware of this? |
