The difference is that I am not paying a sub for it. They've talked about adding in endgame like APW, but I'd like to know what is coming after it before I re-up, and I'd like to know SOE has a real commitment to improving the game.
Bashing the game has become so popular these days. Personally, I think if SOE spent a year to get this out of beta state, it would be fine. I am just not going to pay sub fees during that time. If I were in SOE's shoes, and had a product that sold 200K boxes (and supposedly only has 25K people playing now), I'd be doing everything I could to resurrect it. It can't be that expensive to fix a game that is probably 80% done.
Bottom line: Not many people remember how much EQ2 used to suck. This game can go one of two directions: It can be put on ignore like SWG and MXO, or reinvigorated like EQ2. The announcement makes it look like it is being put on ignore. And given lack of SOE communicating the long term plan just goes to further that notion.
