Are we speaking pre-Silithus? Since they added Silithus to the game nearly two years ago, the 50-58 "grind" has been a lot smoother.

I took him out to felwood, killed a few mobs for 300 RESTED xp, did one quest for 3000xp, popped him out to thrallmar and killed a level 58 boar for 1200xp. 30-40 was never the problem level range. 40-50 typically was; it was especially long for Alliance players since they didn't have as many overlapping quests in STV, or a decent quest hub in Hinterlands.
