| I didn't want to make any comments about the Oilers until I saw a full regular season game. Pre-season means nothing, naturally. But things are looking up for the Oil. I still don't think we'll be a playoff team this year, but the future of the franchise is looking VERY good with so many young guys suddenly stepping up. Last night our five youngest guys were the best players on the ice outside of Hemsky (who is just so damn good, I don't think it's appreciated in the rest of the league how skilled this guy is).
So yeah, I don't think we'll make the playoffs unless Hemsky, Horcoff and Stoll all have point per game seasons or near, Penner needs to pot 25, and Gagner, Cogliano and Nillson average 40-50 points each between them. But if the stars align and the rookies keep looking like they have so far, we might put together a decent season.
Even if the Oil don't make the playoffs, at least it'll be exciting, if last night was any indication. Good god Cogliano is fast. |
