I agree, to an extent - if it is done right, and it comes off well, then I'd spring wood of enormous size. Note that I use the word 'if' here.

My hunch is that most people proclaiming that Fallout shouldn't be used as MMO material are either afraid it will go like so many other MMOs have (Total waste of an IP, and ending up being a joke when compared to the hype), or that people are unwilling to stomach the inevitable changes to the Fallout background that a MMO would precipitate...even though the game is just a glimmer in someones eye at this point. Or both. And I can't really blame them. But maybe I am just more optimistic than some - I'm not ready to run into the night screaming "OMG another VG!" just quite yet.

The only thing I would say at this early a point, is that I hope that if they go through with this that they truly make this a sandbox type deal. Screw raids and that shit - throw people out in a few starting towns, throw in the factions, and let people start their own towns/caves/territories and control areas. I swear I wont touch a Fallout MMO if it ends up being "OK, Chaingunners, burn in 5...4...3..WTF? Quick, shoot it in the eyes and blind him so we have time to get the tank back up". Same with "Ok guys, be on at 8pm so we can kill this guy for the 457th time". I just want to go in and pick fights with other towns, do some quests, find a 'gang' or faction/city to join and kick some ass. I don't want it to be a rip-off of EVEs take on area control, but I'd much rather pick sides and PvP my neighbors, possibly expanding territory and resources (with occasional farming or questing), instead of questing/raiding/factioning for hours on end. The game screams PVP...I hope that is the main focus.

I think that a Fallout FPS would be easier to make and implement, but if someone wants to make an MMO, than I wish them all the luck in the world. I just hope it doesnt become another brick in the pyramid of MMO mediocrity thats currently being built as the next Wonder of the World.
