| Wow! The negativity in this thread, at this point, is actually quite shocking! They haven't even hired/dedicated a staff to the project yet and a lot of you guys are already writing the whole thing off as a huge fuckup or an impossible project. I love a healthy dose of pessimism, but...well, who knows how it is going to play out at this point? Maybe they are going to headhunt a bunch of prime developers; maybe the have really been paying attention to the MMO market and its downturns over the past few years...who the fuck knows? But to say the project is doomed from the start is going too far.
Also, to say that the Fallout IP isn't conducive to a MMO...what the fuck are you talking about!??! The principle reason why Fallout was so great was that the setting and narrative were extremely engaging and the world was so 'life-like' in comparison to other games in the genre. There is serious potentional for a bunch of awesome stuff - clan warfare, resource controlling PvP (not WoW's shitty implementation but stuff with serious ramifications), manufacturing and production arms-races, etc. etc.
Im chalking this negativity up mostly to the 'Brad-effect' but I think the idea itself deserves more excitement than is being shown in this thread. |
