| Wow, a fair response. Really wasn't expecting alot of tournament players, but I guess FoHBB takes a decent cross section of people.
I'd say that the "golden age" of tournament paintball is long past. The current system of small airball fields does promote a more spectacular game (lets face it, 45 minute games in the woods were even boring to play let alone watch), but it also promotes a short life span. People just don't play for the lengths of time that they used to.
The costs, both physical and financial, involved in being competitive in a tournament envirionment are freaking HUGE. Even with a decent level of sponsorship, it was still costing upwards of 10k a year for practice and travel (our entries and the vast vast majority of paint was covered). Equipment costs were always negligable compared to the daily costs.
