Thanks for your constructive input, but you did notice I said I was doing a sprint-triathlon? It's a grand total of roughly 3 miles running, which is doable in 20 minutes give or take... plus the swim and bike portions. The point at which your body actually starts burning muscle is around the 45 minute mark, which only really affects people who train regularly at distances of 7+ miles at a time.

The reason I even chose the sprint distance is for some of the same reasons you listed, mostly vain ones, in that I don't want to look like those guys... but that doesn't mean I'm going to belittle their choices.

Back to topic:

For those who know about triathlon training, are there any good websites out there that aren't garbage for training programs/tips?
