But if this person left in the middle of KoS, then I don't see how he can say anything about class-specific loot as it did not exist in KoS. All KoS loot was very much not class specific at all. Plus, let's not forget the fact that loot dropped like candy and that it took no time at all to equip a raid.

Things have changed since then as well, most AEs don't kill people anymore. Plus, there are quite a few more unique models for raid mobs. Of course, raiding in EQ2 is boring in a different way, mainly the way that the vast majority of mobs have become cookie cutter copies. Oh look, an AE+Power Drain, ooh it spawns adds too, and then oh look it has some "unique" ability to make the fight harder. Then again, EQ2 raiding got even more boring once they nerfed the hell out of it and made everything easier.
