I still chat with a few people who play (on whatever the new server is that Tarew Marr combined with). I feel bad for some of the because I know the only reason they still play is that they feel too invested in their toons or their virtual community/guild to quit especially considering the ever-shrinking playerbase.
I'm curious what your definition of 'easy to catch up' is. The difficulty most people probably have is the snoozefest of grinding hundreds and hundreds of AAs.

To put it another way, unless you specifically are picking the game up to play with a bunch of established folks, EQ has nothing going for it over current MMORPG offerings.

Heh thats kinda what it sounded like to me, but some people are attached to their characters/names I guess.
