For the most part it's the same since you quit. Believe timers/damage were adjusted at one point after a combat revamp, but the process and flow of combat never really changed from a mystic's viewpoint.
I've played every archtype and never felt as if I was spamming. Yes, some skills are very,very redundant. For example, I have 2 dots(one disease one cold? i think), 2 single target slows, and 2 stamina debuffs one of which also is a disease debuff. They all stack as far as I know(unless the mob is already at the slow cap), but if they really wanted to fix this problem I don't see why they can't consolidate these spells/ca's. But I've had my account open since release so this is the least of my worries with the game + I don't have pussy ass fingers. I'd much rather them deal with their shitty end game.
