If you listen to the Virgin Worlds podcast from about a week ago Brent answers this question from his own experience with buyouts/mergers. And Yes, I do think that the debt is being paid off by SOE. They will want to keep this game as it's one of their biggest station pass games(meaning a lot of people play it that have station access) and they could make it quite profitable over the coming years.
