You'll be able to get IN to a Myrmidon much easier than the Command Ship, but flying it well will require far more training than the Command Ship.
Flying a Myrmidon well does not require significantly more gunnery than missile skills, the secondary gunnery skills vs missile skills are entirely a wash, and the only difference is you require Small Projectiles V - heavy missiles V and Medium Projectile V are the same. So the Myrm is ahead by like 5 days, here. Both require Battlecruisers V, so that's a wash. The Myrm requires Drone Interfacing V, but the Nighthawk requires Caldari Cruiser V -- these two things are a wash, except that in all reality, Drone Interfacing V is a far more generally valuable skill than Caldari Cruiser V, so you're probably better off at this point.

Past this point though, stuff just starts to stack up on the Nighthawk, it requires Mechanic V, Weapon Upgrades V, Warfare Link Specialist IV, Heavy Assault Ships IV, Assault Ships IV, Leadership V...

The kicker is that with Drone Interfacing IV, and Battlecruiser IV, your Myrm is still doing more dps than the Nighthawk. It also insures, unlike the Nighthawk which costs like 200 million that you lose if it dies.

Also, don't forget that tanking really awesomely is an entirely useless capability to 90% of players -- it's only really good for tanking plexes, and the like, for missioning and other PvE you just need a minimum tank that will hold, and the rest is all a question of how much dps you can do to raise your killing efficiency. So I'd say really good tank + awesome dps is much better general purpose than awesome tank + pathetic dps.
