| Second part to that question: Does that mean Boxing is better than MMA?
No.
There are differences in Traditional Boxing and MMA Boxing. Your stance is more square in MMA, which makes you an easier target. The advantage to that is for better kicks and takedown defense.
That is something you have to work on, and it will change the way you fight. Especially when it comes to your headwork and overall defense. You cannot do the lazy slips and bobbing in MMA, because you will get caught with a knee, kick, elbow, uppercut or takedown.
I'm telling you, you cannot just come into MMA from using one discipline. It's a whole new world. You might get by with a quick knockout, but you will not dominate the sport, not by a longshot.
To answer the first question though... Boxing organizations will use it as fuel to keep Boxing alive. It will be talked about during every televised fights and the Boxing enthusiasts will say I told you we're the best.
I predict the exact opposite if the MMA fighter wins. |
