| Awesome news indeed, can't wait to visit Neriak again.
EQ2 problems in the end game were not only in itemization, as surely Noah can point out (I think you are/were a guardian, right?), but also in how stats worked pre EoF. As a tank you used to care only about mitigation, you'd pass on an apparently very good item in favour of a mediocre one because of those extra mitigation points.
Stat caps were another issue now partially solved. Gear has gotten better, but far from what it should be, although I have no direct experience of serious EoF raids and how this gear plays out in such content. It surely makes a difference when doing other things, like Mistmoore or Nizara: the difference between a raid geared tank and a mastercrafted/legendary one there is... too huge to even be considered. Even mez has a role there, being unforgiving single group content.
The strenght of the game lies in the 1-70 path imo (more like 18-70), due to the amount of content to explore and the questlines to do (not kill X mobs ones).
Class balance is quite well done until the raid content is being hit. Everyone can find a role in a raid, except Troub so far which are a "meh... ok, come if you really want to" class. Coercers have their use, so do illusionists although their specialty is not really needed (mez).
For all those that are not too concerned with hardcore raiding, EQ2 is a great game, raids (well until KoS for what I can say) were quite fun from many points of view, but not so rewarding in terms of loot; I enjoy more the achievement than the pixels so I never really cared too much, many didn't think the same way I did. |
