So I skilled up to surveying 3 and got salvaging, and outfitted a cormorant with a few tractor beams and a few salvagers. At first, I thought it not worth it, because I couldn't find small salvagers ANYWHERE for under 1.4mil. I went ahead and swallowed the cost.
First mission I enter in my merlin right after was a story lvl 1 with caldari. Normal parts retrieved and bounties gave me about 600k with the mission completion (occasionally I get lucky and find a frickin 450k item, which makes me smile). I jumped in before completed, raped the wrecks, sold the items for 3.5mil. From level 1 salvaging...
I understand that Salvaging is utterly boring. With the tractor beams in a destroyer, it wasn't more than an extra 20 minutes tacked onto the missions I was doing. But the 3.5mil per mission gain is AMAZING!
Afterwords, I got Worlds Collide, soloed it, went in, yielded another 4.2mil in profits. I may be lucky, but it sold me on salvaging. Sure, I may not do it all the time, but at least ONCE a gaming day, I'll definetly do it. Lots of money early on is making alot of difference.
