I don't think that 2-3x as many notable ships as half the factions is a small margin, personally. And you are really underestimating the power difference between armor tankers and shield tankers alone, nevermind the silliness of having both nos+drone heavy tank ships and the highest gank dps ships in the game. Add that together with the fact that you have the best capital ships and motherships in the class.
Gallente simply has the outright best ships in too many classes, combined with no real weakness in any aspect of the game at all. The only gameplay niches that gallente doesn't have a lockdown on are ECM and speed.
