That was a flaw in the game design, having 5 sets of resist gear is retarded, limited inventory is not inherently so. The thing to do is really to imagine what your players will actually end up carrying around in a reasonable scenario and if it is just to much you need to either find a way to handle it or go over what they should be carrying and find ways to eliminate the need for them to carry it.
