I don't mean to sound disrespectful or snide, but maybe your issue has less to do with one banner ad, and more to do with your Internet usage choices on a government network?
Not that all content on this board is NSFW, but you have to assume that an MMORPG-focused site will have its share of questionable material cropping up in unexpected places. For that reason alone, and completely regardless of the banner ads, I'd hesitate before browsing this site on a heavily monitored computer. Hell, I'd hesitate before browsing pretty much
any non-work-related site all day on a heavily monitored computer.
I, for one, rarely check this board at work, and I know pretty much every way to avoid accidentally opening up something sketchy. Maybe I'm just paranoid -- but like you, I work for a company that monitors computer/Net usage very closely. For those of us in similar situations at the office, this board (and other boards like it) may occasionally have to wait 'til we get home.
