I actually solved my RSS feed problem last night--who'd have thought there would be useful stuff in a manual?! I posted the details in response to another thread:

It's great to only get threads from the forums I read, and seeing the most recent replies instead of just the most recent thread creations is much more relevant imo. Not the most elegant solution, but it does the job.
Subcategories are still cool though, if only because you can collapse the ones you don't care about and they'll stay that way.
