Yeah - basically, I can understand the motivations for doing this kind of advertising, and I accept that it is indeed current reality. But I would prefer if it wasn't like this, and remember a time when indeed this was not the norm.
A good counterpoint is the famous movie 'Bullit'. I mean, EVERYONE, knows that Steve McQueen is tearing around in a Mustang (68 Fastback I think) while being chased by a 69 Charger. But it was done in a way without the film-makers feeling like they had to stuff the brand in our faces at every possible turn. 'Here's a MUSTANG and here's a CHARGER...you can BUY ONE TOO!!!'
It was, to use a dangerous term, much more artistic (i.e. it maintained integrity with the whole of the movie and wasn't gratuitous). That is the kind of thing I miss nowadays. To use Mythas's phrase, its just getting retarded
