I do graphic design for a living and the only thing I would use a mac over a pc for is video editing. And that's only because of Final Cut pro, not because the mac has some astonishing video hardware.

Macs are used in the graphics industry because as I'm often finding out, there are people that are amazing in illustrator or photoshop, but don't know shit about how to run anything else on the computer. Hence the simpler OS.
