Thats a huge exaggeration. You just have to DPS the rift keepers enough to only get 2-3 spawns from the portal and its simple. Its one of those fights that can seem impossible if your group doesn't have the dps needed, and extremely easy if you do.
Although I agree with your point somewhat on the rogue issue, it just seems like a 5 man design oversight. Rogues right now don't give you a boost over casters.

You have to constantly move them off of those pink columns or you cannot kill them.
