Seriously... people know about this song; there is a reason why it isn't used on all raids: Its got huge limitations.
For one thing, its pulse based, so limits a bard to just one other song. For that reason, its most 'costly' than other things a bard can do; it basically costs "double" what other songs do. To get the max effect out of it, you need to be using 'amplify' as well... which pretty much takes a bard out of doing anything else useful.
There is also the range on it. 30. yes, 30. If people aren't sitting on the bard, they are out of range. A group has to really be expecting it and standing appropriately clumped to get the benefit. It will take a bard out of melee.
Which is to say... its got some major opportunity costs.
Its max effect... for a bard with maxxed out AA, and the best gear, is 25 mana / 6 seconds. Thats not bad.... until you figure what a mana pool on a caster is, and what their natural mana regen is. Are you better off with 4 clerics regenning 95, or 5 clerics regenning 70? I think most people would agree that the 5 clerics are better... if for nothing other than casting time and aggro control reasons. Which is to say, a bard doing this is not clearly more effective than adding another cleric.
Lets be real... a bard can boost the damage of rogues, ramngers, wizards. A bard can boost the healing of clerics. They can compensate for areas that are weak; basically trading an excess of bards to compensate for a lack in the numbers of another class; in a properly structured group.
so... high opportunity cost... limited benefits, and the benfits in line with the rest of the things bards do on raids. |
