| Just to share, I'd never seen Mulholland Dr until yesterday. I had a fucked up migraine so I stayed home from work, slept until like 1 and then my netflix shit showed up, got Brick and Mulholland Dr.
I am all about some crazy lesbian scenes, don't get me wrong. But I fail to see how this is his best movie, like many people say. I liked both Elephant Man and Lost Highway better. Not to say it isn't good, and didn't make me think, it did, just not nearly so much as Lost Highway. Well I've never seen Wild at Heart or Blue Velvet either so I plan to watch those soon, but to me, the story in Mulholland wasn't nearly so surreal, it was pretty much a straightforward story about a (possibly) sexually abused girl and her getting jilted in a relationship and her career. Maybe it's so much more and I'm just missing it, seemed pretty straightforward to me though. |
