| Cormac has always been very true to the culture and traditions of west texas, and if you read his books you're really getting it straight from the source. Dark, very dark, that's true, but the stoic nature of most of his characters is spot on west texas. No Country for Old Men brings me straight back to those little towns, it's downright uncanny.
I still think All the Pretty Horses was one of the best period books I've ever read. Up there with Isabelle Allende or whatever her name is. |
