If your CPU was getting bottlenecked then yes. Otherwise no. Its really hard to say, if you were having compatibility issues or if your CPU is getting worked then yah you will notice a difference. Much like if you are using a video card with old drivers and then update them, there will be a difference.
It might not be noticeable in every game or application but for the one that it is noticeable it will be worth it.
