Now maybe you are coming from the angle of Sigil putting pressure on Req et all to get rid of stuff like that "or else" and I have to kind of wonder what that "or else" entails ? No more gorilla marketing threads ? No more pure hype and spin control with an old screenshot attached ?
I don't see the lever here, I really don't. Brad (and any other dev) gains far more by posting here then we gain from their posting. Yes we get a good source of "inside information" and even in some cases its true (hi2uScott!!), but they get a open venue to promote their products here, and it doesn't cost them a dime.
If anything, the lever is in Req's hand, not Brads. |
Well...I am a developer on the project, and this site is also MY house as a guild founder and member. As Furor so eloquently put many years ago, "Don't come here and shit on our lawn!"
With that said, I've asked from time to time to have something removed that violated the NDA, however most times, as was the case with the patch notes, the moderators are way ahead of me. Believe it or not, the guys run a tight ship and we should all respect that. There is no shortage of smack talk and I am cool with that, but you have to draw the line somewhere, and the NDA stuff warrants a modicum of respect. If the situation were reversed I can assure you, you would act the same way.
Fear not though. Beta 4 will not last too long and with the next phase we are almost certainly lifting the NDA. Expect a mixed bag of feedback, as with any other title. We were forced into beta WAY WAY too early and paid a heavy PR price, however the game has come a very long way since then. I am proud of where we are now, and the progress continues.
