EVEU is an ok beginner corp, I'm a member myself, and if for no other reason than to have access to their message board as a handy reference tool, it's worth joining I guess. But there are definatly better corps/alliances to join if you want more day to day non-stop action.
My little brother, who started playing the same time as I did, joined a completely different style of corp, and he spends the majority of his time ratting in early 0.0 space or helping his corp camp the gate into 0.0 space, which they keep camped 16+ hours a day or running level 4 missions. He seems to enjoy the game more than I do, although possibly because he mostly skipped the learning skills, and went straight to flying a raven, while I stopped and putted around doing level 3 missions in a ferox.
