In addition to the above issues, I'd say another issue attributing to the death of DAOC was the way Mythic handled nerfs. Instead of a nerf bat they used a nerf nuclear missle. Usually the the allegedly imba ability/skill/item or whatever was made utterly useless after the round of nerfing. |
When I switched to Hibernia/Kay from lolAlbion/Guinevere to play with some friends, it was about the time they were thinking about adding Celt to the list of playable races for Nightshades. The resulting backlash, while humorous, was reasonable: if Celt got Nightshade access, there was going to be a huge call of nerfs followed by Mythic firing ze missiles.
Kind of glad they dodged what could have been. Like it mattered, I ended up playing a Valewalker (Hey, look! It's a cloth caster! ... Where the fuck did that scythe come from?!)
A question for anyone that happens to still be playing: is Dragonfang still fucking godlike?
