Ok I'll just say it now, since it's been rehased 9 thousand damn times in this thread alone. (Ok maybe I lied, but ffs)

Eragon is a book that is NOT intended for the A Song of Ice and Fire crowd. Duh. It sounds, reads, and has a plotline that is very simple, and overused, because it is intended for children, or the younger crowd. Duh.

No one reads Harry Potter and complains about it being juvenile or 'man this looks like it was written by a 17 year old' do they? Why? Cause the book is obviously for children.

Yes, it has borrowed ideas from other series. Perhaps it's because (now remember, this book is aimed for the younger crowd) not every little Timmy on the corner runs and picks up ASoI&F or The Wheel of Time as soon as they hit puberty. To us, these themes are overused; to the new reader, these themes are as bad ass as they were for us the first time we saw them used.

Just because it's popular, and you've heard of it does not mean it was intended to be read and enjoyed by you. Complaining of the juvenile-ness of a children's book is about as pointless as saying "Spongebob blows ass; it's so juvenile and immature."
