Interesting Exploit bounty system [SL].

I don't know if you would label Second Life an mmorpg as it's not so much a game as a giant sandbox, but it functions like an mmo for the most part (only lacking a linear objective...or hell any objective placed in front of you really), and suffers from bugs and exploits exactly like other mmo's. Anyway, some one sent me a link to This Post.

In a nutshell it's a bounty for being the first to report exploits. They're paying L$ 10,000 (that being the in game currency), which equals about $33.45 if you just sold it for US dollars (currency selling and buying is part of the game). Furthermore, one of their ballsy devs is apparently on standby, ready to smash exploits that threaten the economy even in the middle of the night.

I thought this was an interesting take on exploit/bug fixing and an impressive measure taken by an mmo team to fix their game's bugs. I figured others may be interested in seeing this, and I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. I really do think that it'll turn up plenty of exploits since players will be incentive-ized quite heavily to report them. It may even help the mmo market clean up it's act with regard to bugs to see one taking care of shit (presuming the system works). Of course the game isn't at all competition for the same player base, so it most likely won't make a big difference.
