World of Warcraft has nothing in terms of difficulty that would actually bar a player from experiencing the content. Any skills you might need can be learned. You know, skills like showing up on time, listening, not being a drama queen, having the correct mods, and other amazing abilities possed by a select few blessed by God.

Maybe saying GM is a bad example, but IM probably is not or if that's a reach achieving _____ rating, the goal isn't important. The point is that you want to spend your time getting better at something. In general when you get better at a sport, you enjoy it, you enjoy beating people you could not previously beat or accomplishing things you could not previously accomplish. People play this game for 40 hours a week to have their characters get better, if you tell us now "in 5 months, the 40 hours a week you are putting in now will be worthless," there's an entire community that wonders why they are playing now.
