Saw the film last night and oh did it suck. There were a few effects that looked half-baked, most notably Iceman's ice covering that looked like the TLC Waterfalls video circa 1995.
Overall, the film suffered from HORRIBLE directing. Anytime you see solid actors prancing around like retards and sounding like assholes, you know your director stinks. There weren't any lines as bad as "NOOOOO!!" but there were a few that came close. Magneto delivered a "what have I done?" that should have been edited out or redone... something. It was aweful.
The Mutant School is supposed to be on the East Coast. A lot of the action in the film takes place in San Francisco. There are about a half dozen instances where someone just randomly nips off from one to the other like it's no big deal. No motorcycle journey. No explanation of how they got there. Just "Hey, I was just in CALI-FUCKING-FORNIA a few minutes ago, now I'm back, but we have to get there now!!!1!lol!!1!" Horrible... horrible plot hole.
Vinnie Jones? Wasted. Could have been played by anyone. Most of the other characters? Wasted. Cyclops? Goes out like a punk.
Many of the scenes and sequences went on for way too long or had music that was innapropriately dramatic.
The film wasn't as bad as Star Wars Episode III, but it was close. The second X-Men film is by far the strongest. |
