Anyways, I am going to elaborate why I think that there is indeed a conceptual problem with the animal-type races and the generic one-size-fits-all body types.

unfortunately I could only dig up this disney stuff, but it shows what I am talking about, because disney animals are pretty good when it comes to capturing racial attributes.

As you can see, the animal-body-type relates to the area below the waist. This means that everything above could stay the way it is. All Vanguard needs for the animal-type races is a different module below the waist. That can't be too difficult to implement and the difference would be enormous.
Just wanted to agree with Neric here to a point. The system we've designed is the most powerful yet. But the decision to share skeletons, no matter how morphable everything is, means that all of our playable races have to be generally humanoid. What we can't do is have a playable race that is not humanoid -- say a thri-kreen or something like that.

That was the sacrifice we made with this system to reap the benefits of being able to make a LOT more types of armor and clothing. He and others may disagree that this was a 'more good than bad' decision, but no matter what, yes, it was a compromise.

I think launching with all playable races humanoid and then later building on that technology and introducing new skeletons to allow the creation of non-humanoid playable races would be very cool and it's something we're taking very seriously when thinking about and talking about post-launch features and how Vanguard can continue to grow. On a personal level, I'd love to see an insectoid playable race.

Now, not to speak for Neric or others, but they may still believe that our decision won't offer enough cutomizability even for humanoids -- I respectfully disagree after seeing hands-on what this tech can do. But time will tell, and then there is also a subjective component to this.
