I've only skimmed through the posts so I may be repeating someone else but my general opinion on religion is this..
Why waste your time with something you will never be able to fully experience until you're dead?
Does it really make your life better to have someone always there holding your hand and pulling the strings?
I don't think so. And although sometimes I may get depressed after a bad day and wish I had someone there for me... there is no one there for me. Otherwise what would be the point of free will? What's the point if you always have to follow set guidelines and road maps to happiness? Why not find out for yourself.
Life is filled with suffering and uncertainty.. that's what makes it exciting!
