I am not religious, and for a few reasons. First, there's so many damn things about some religions that just dont make any sense at all. For example, the main thing that i've had a problem with my whole life is this, maybe a religious person can help explain it to me:

Adam and Eve were supposedly the first 2 people ever according to the bible. Well, obviously they had sex, and had children. So then, to get more children, and start the human race, it was either brothers and sisters fucking, or parents and children fucking. Now, isn't that just one huge, gigantic sin? Did Adam and Eve and their children go to 'hell'? Why would God's personal creations commit such gigantic sins? The entire human race is based on a sin, according to them.

So, according to the same theory, we're all related, right? Well now please explain to me how we have such extremely diverse races of humans. If Adam and Eve were white, where did blacks and asians etc, come from? Or if they were black, where did whites and etc etc etc come from?

Another damn thing that pisses me off, if the world was only around for 4000 years or whatever the bible says, please explain to me the huge amount of fossils we have that are millions of years old. That are scientifically PROVEN to be that old.

I also hate the fact that most relgions claim that their god (or gods) is the only god, and their religion is the 'true' religion. The only religion i know for sure that accepts other religions and faiths is Buddhism. Ok, so if your religion is the only 'true' religion, where did all these other religions come from? You're really claiming that so many people follow a false god? I'll tell you where they came from, they were made up the same way yours was.

I personally beleive that religion is a comfort thing that was slowly made up over time to comfort people in times of stress, like wars, etc. It gave, and gives, people a sense of confidence, and it gives them a reason to do what they do, such as fight a 'holy' war, or deal with the death of a loved one. So, just like those 2 examples, it can be a good and a bad thing.

The bottom line for me is that religion and science are opposites, basically. I go with beleiving science because, unlike religion, they offer tons of proof, facts that can be backed up to support theories. The only facts religion has to offer are some documents that were written by some guy or some people thousands of years ago, such as the bible.

Edit: Also, the whole priest molesting children and not getting punished scandal should clue some people in about the integrity of religion. Also, i should mention i dont preach to people about this, and i dont hate or look down upon people who are religious, it's all about personal choice.
