that really annoys me is when people make statements in haste about subjects they don't fully understand.
As far as religion goes no one can tell you why one is better then the other, or has more of a claim to the truth of things. I'd suggest picking up a copy of the bible and reading it for yourself before you pass any sort of judgement on Protestants or Catholics.
And remember, the person who wrote that statement is expressing his own opinions and views, not those of the entire Catholic community. Even though I disagree with the worship of Mary as a god on par with Jesus, I find most Catholic's to be good natured and not condescending as this person is. Its a bad move to make sweeping generalized judgements of a religion by one persons actions, see Islam for further details.
