South Park has it's moments, great moments, but you nailed it. It goes for the little 8 year old in us.

South Park -> Family Guy -> The Simpsons

Now I'm not saying South Park is inferior to Family Guy. Nor am I saying Family Guy is inferior to The Simpsons. Their target audience in my opinion are different. There are days I want the dick and fart jokes of South Park. Some days I want the pop culture references of Family Guy. And other days I enjoy the moralistic, educated humor of The Simpsons.

Now having said all that, I would go for Family Guy as the winner of "burst humor". As you mentioned South Park's jokes just get repetitive. The Simpsons are more subtle and the set up takes longer. South Park is where you want to park your ass for some good old crassness. Family is where you want to set up shop for quick hitters and randomness. Pitch your tent at The Simpsons for something the whole family can enjoy.
