What would it take to contend with someone in BOB? In terms of time-investment; from scratch.
Curious.
And, I played EVE for about two months or so a while back, with some others from fohguild.org; I found it near impossible to get a decent ship out in the lawless areas, and even then there were people who'd put so many hours into the game it was impossible to play catch-up.
In WoW, I can level a twink to 60 in two weeks, with modest playing. There is such a steep leveling curve in EVE, that I think anyone who goes into it expecting to powerlevel their way to a battleship (let alone carrier, whatever) and most especially people from this board, that they will get frustrated in the attempt.
Either that or they whack-off to their original SW:ANH poster, and all is well with the world. |
What means to contend with someone in BoB ? Eve is no solo game, especialy when we're talking about alliance warfare that involve thousands of people over months.
To take part in a fleet going against BoB ? you'd need 2 weeks of training. To be able to stand a chance 1v1 in a battleship duel, you'd need 8 months of skill training. After 1 year you can take anyone on equal footing, it's just that a player with 3 years will be able to fly a fuckton of different ship, and a 1 year char will only be efficient(ie maxed skills) with a few (typically BS / Cruiser / interceptor / AS).
Eve is no game you play hardcore for 1 month, become uber, and quit. If you're looking for the fastest way to inflate your ego, you might want to try another game. On the other hand, in no other game the decisions of a single player can completely change the game for tens of thousands of players, like SirMolle of BoB can do, and you know, SirMolle could have 0 SP he would still be, arguably, the most powerfull player in Eve. To be above average in Eve you need a lot of SP, to be at the top you just need a brain.
