Getting mouse to work with new system

Hey,

Just got a new system, put it all together this afternoon then loaded winXP on it. After it finally got into windows the mouse won't work at all. I have 2 USB logitech mice that I know both work, Ive tried in the USB ports (don't get power at all) and the ps/2 port with an adapter (get power to the mouse with this) but neither is recognized by windows.

I've checked the device manager and there is no little drop down menu for Mouse like there is on the computer I'm posting this from. I've tried two different installs of XP, one Pro and the other is Home. I'm guessing it's hardware related because of this but I really don't have any idea what could be wrong. I tried installing drivers from Logitech but those didn't seem to work either.

Set up right now is
Asus A8N board
AMD 64 3700+ Venice
7800 GT PCIe
DVD burner
HD
2gb ram

That's all I have in the machine right now, I know the USB slots are all fine since my keyboard works in any of them, though it doesn't seem to work if I throw the ps/2 adapter on it and try it in the keyboard port.

Any help would be appreciated.
