I played the alpha models, and core gameplay elements were enough to turn me off.

You've all seen the screen shots where the dude rolls outta the way of the fireball..Its possible, but gayly done.

When playing, to put it simply, the spam clicking to attack, trying to play hit and run as a fucking barbarian was gay, oh, and the controls were just so generally clunky that I looked very similar to a monkey fucking a keyboard during gameplay.


All of that aside: If you grew up with D&D, I suppose you should give it a try during beta instead of release. You probably won't like it. I know my sister broke 4 keyboards attempting to enjoy the game simply because she loved D&D so much she wanted to love the game.
If you aren't really a D&D diehard, you may enjoy it, but don't go into it expecting a whole lot. No xp per monster kill as per last time I played, only once a quest is complete--The battle system was a bit clunky when I played, however, if smoothed out it combines a lot of twitch skill with some general d20 rules...For those of you wanting to actually be able to have enough control of your character to jump away from the sword, this is the game for you. For the rest of us who loved EQ for its specific gameplay aspects--Wait til Vanguard.
