| I played through this when it came out near the end of last year in Japan. It was pretty good, but it is just more of the same Dragon Quest. Most of the sounds from the series haven't even changed. Combat is as slow as ever with no flashy effects, however the view actually switches out to third person this time so you can see your characters' attacks. The graphics are really good for a PS2 game and the seamless world almost feels like an MMORPG. They really put a lot of effort into the detail of this game. The story is very Dragon Quest like with not much of anything exciting going on.
If you're looking for a good orthodox RPG with no surprises or innovation then check this one out. I personally enjoyed the graphics, but with such a bland storyline and combat I had to really force myself to play through it to the end. Of course this is pretty much how all Dragon Quests have been so if you're a fan then check it out! |
