Yeah, the cheaper version is mainly going to be bought by parents and people who don't really game (but omg I <3 m4dd3n). A lot of people are thinking that the $299 version is just so MS can claim that they are launching an affordable sub-$300 system while PS3 is going to be $399+.
But I still think it's unfair to argue that using a computer you already own is cheaper than getting an Xbox360. It would be like arguing that a Mustang is better since it only costs $30 to fill up the tank, whereas it costs $65k+ to get a brand new Corvette. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
And just derailing the thread a bit: can anyone recommend a good LCD TV? I think I want 720p minimum, and it has to be pretty cheap (I'm a poor college student). There was a nice Philips 30" I saw for $799, but I can't find it now.
