From a recent Gamespy article,
"Armor and weapon sets will look distinctive based on where they come from (e.g. plenty of scimitars, not many short swords)"
Keep in mind that not only is that armor regionally specific, it's also only one set among many with strict regional ties.
But if you knew how all the races looked in all the different types of armor before the game is even in beta, well, where's the fun in that? :/
