In the same thread, someone suggested just moving the AH into an instance accessible from all three towns, with walls so that while it was a shared AH, you could only go out to the town you went in to. That way, you have a lot more space to put in a lot more Auctioneers and it's all one one computer/server/farm so you don't have sync problems. Blue never responded, but I think that's an excellent idea. Heck, you can even set up the decor on either side of the wall to make it look like you're still in the original city based on which portal they came in at.
